Although I have a rather small camera Fuji X-T30 I don’t always carry it with me. So I have to rely on my mobile phone. For years now I am a fan of the Google Pixel phones for obvious reasons. Best in class pictures.

The basic quality is really good, but I like to add a more dramatic look to them. My favorite weapon: Snapseed (google playstore / App Store)

I just love Snapseed, it is easy to use and a lot of options to choose from (all for free).

Here are some regular steps I take to reach that drastic look. With all actions it is dependent on the image so just experiment with the settings within the functions I suggest.

For now I stay away from curves but feel free to try that and see what that brings for you.

  1. HDR 9 out of 10 times I use the HDR function and mostly the people setting. Filter strength: up between 25 and 70 Clarity: up between 10 and 30 Saturation: down between 10 and 50

  2. Details Structure: up between 10 and 40 Sharpening: up between 10 and 20

  3. Tune Image Brightness: up between 10 and 30 Contrast: up between 0 and 20 Saturation: up between 0 and 20 Ambiance: up between 10 and 40 Highlights: up or down 10 Shadows: up between 10 and 50 Warmth: hardly ever change (on Pixel)

  4. Vignette Outer Brightness: down 100 Inner Brightness: hardly ever change (on Pixel)

  5. Glamour glow (occassional) Glow: up between 10 and 40 Saturation: no changes Warmth: no changes

  6. Black-White (if you feel like it) Neutral Brightness: up between 0 and 10 Contrast: up between 10 and 40 Grain: I never use grain, not my liking

notice the difference?
